About
Playhouse East
Playhouse East is an independent theatre, rehearsal and creative venue on Kingsland Road in Haggerston, East London. Opened in 2025 within a converted industrial building, the venue provides a characterful setting for performances, screenings, talks, launches, workshops, rehearsals and creative events.
The principal event space is The Playhouse, an 84-seat theatre combining original architectural features with natural daylight and the ability to achieve full blackout. At approximately 1,000 sq ft, the space works particularly well for presentations, panel discussions, screenings, performances and content-led events.
Studio Tardieu provides a separate daylight rehearsal and workshop studio within the same Haggerston venue. Equipped with mirrors and sound facilities, it is suited to workshops, rehearsals, classes, creative sessions and smaller shoots.
Playhouse East is also home to Café Hebe, providing a front-of-house café and bar environment for guests attending events and performances.

Why Hire
Playhouse East offers a more characterful alternative to a conventional meeting or presentation venue, particularly for events centred around performance, conversation or creative content.
The 84-seat Playhouse provides a ready-made environment for presentations, screenings, panel discussions and talks, with natural daylight for daytime use and full blackout when required.
Studio Tardieu complements the theatre with a flexible environment for workshops, rehearsals and collaborative sessions, allowing organisers to combine presentation and practical activity within the same venue.
Its independent character and Haggerston location make Playhouse East particularly relevant for creative businesses, production companies, agencies and organisations looking for an intimate East London venue.
