The Winchester House Club
The Winchester House Club is a historic private members' club and events venue occupying an enviable riverside position in Putney, with a large private garden extending towards the Thames.
Dating from the early 17th century, Winchester House combines traditional period interiors with one of the venue's greatest assets: its spacious riverside lawn. The Club regularly welcomes non-members for private events, corporate meetings, weddings and special occasions, offering a characterful alternative to conventional London hotels and conference venues.
The River Room is the principal event space, located on the first floor with views across the Thames. Accommodating up to 120 guests for a seated dinner, it is particularly well suited to corporate dinners, wedding receptions, celebrations and larger private events.
Smaller rooms include the Library/Reading Room, which provides a more intimate environment for meetings, away days and receptions, while the traditional Members' Bar features wood panelling, an open fireplace and views towards the garden and river.
For summer events, the private Garden provides a substantial lawn immediately beside the Thames and can be used for receptions, barbecues, company parties and informal corporate events. The combination of indoor rooms and outdoor space allows organisers to create events that move naturally between the house and garden.
The Club's location close to Putney Bridge and Putney stations makes it easily accessible from central London while retaining the feel of a secluded riverside property.
