About
Watford Pump House
We used to be the old Victorian pumping station supplying water to the Watford area. In the early 1970s the building was converted to provide a theatre auditorium and rehearsal room and we’ve expanded over the years to include a number of multi-purpose spaces. You can hire our spaces for private, community or corporate use.

Facilities and Services
Watford Pump House offers a range of flexible facilities suitable for meetings, conferences, presentations, training sessions, workshops and private events. The Main Theatre includes a raked auditorium, stage, backstage dressing rooms, foyer, PA system and access to professional theatre sound and lighting equipment, with a projector available for an additional charge. The Colne River Room provides flexible seating layouts, a small stage, PA system, private entrance and foyer, while the Charles Room includes its own self-contained tea and coffee bar. Both the Main Theatre and Colne River Room have fully licensed bars, subject to staffing availability. There is no in-house catering service; however, external food and refreshments can be brought into the venue by arrangement.

The Pump House is conveniently located in the heart of Watford within walking distance of Watford High Street Overground Station and Bushey Mainline Station with regular rail services into central London. We’re also easy to get to by car with quick links to the M1 and M25. Although we have limited on-site parking there are a number of public car parks within walking distance. We are also well served by local bus routes.
By car
From the M25 leave the motorway at Junction 19 and follow the A41 to Watford. Leave the ring road at Lower High Street and follow the signs to the Pump House.
From the M1 leave the motorway at Junction 5 and follow A4008 to Watford. Leave the ring road at Lower High Street and follow the signs to the Pump House.
PLEASE NOTE: due to the one-way system it is only possible to approach the Pump House via Lower High Street from the Watford Ring Road.
By public transport
By Bus: 142 & 258 stop close to Local Board Road.
By Train: Watford High Street and Bushey Stations, which are served by the London Overground, are both within walking distance of the Pump House.
