BFI Stephen Street

BFI Stephen Street is the British Film Institute’s central London screening and meeting venue, located just off Tottenham Court Road in the West End. It offers a more intimate proposition than BFI Southbank, combining two 36-seat screening rooms, three meeting rooms and reception/hospitality areas for private screenings, press events, meetings, launches and small corporate gatherings.

The venue is particularly useful for film and media events because its screening rooms support formats from DCP through to 16mm film, with BFI technical support available as part of hire. Private screenings can also be booked at relatively short notice, including same-day subject to availability.

BFI Stephen Street combines specialist screening technology with conventional meeting facilities. All three meeting rooms offer air conditioning, natural daylight and modern meeting equipment, while screening hire includes in-house AV, assistance from a BFI Events Coordinator and a projectionist.

Catering and hospitality are provided through Stephen St Kitchen, with refreshments, breakfast and working-lunch packages available for meetings and events.

Why Hire

BFI Stephen Street fills a useful niche between a conventional meeting venue and a professional cinema facility. The two screening rooms are particularly strong for private screenings, media events, press previews and film-industry activity where reliable projection and specialist technical support matter.

The three meeting rooms also make the venue practical for smaller corporate events, with the two principal rooms combining for up to 40 theatre-style or 24 boardroom. Natural daylight and integrated AV make them suitable for meetings and workshops without the atmosphere of a traditional hotel meeting room.

Its central West End location is another major advantage, particularly for media, creative and production businesses concentrated around Soho, Fitzrovia and Charlotte Street.
