About
Chetham's Library & Baronial Hall
Chetham’s Library & Baronial Hall offers an extraordinary historic setting for events in Manchester’s Medieval Quarter. Housed within a Grade I listed complex dating back to 1421, the venue combines more than 600 years of history with a central location just moments from Manchester Victoria Station. Chetham’s Library itself has been in continuous use as a public library for more than 350 years and contains collections recognised as being of national and international significance.
At the heart of the event offer is the magnificent Baronial Hall, one of the best-preserved medieval timber halls in the North West. With its open timber roof, stone-flagged floor, historic oak screen and imposing inglenook fireplace, it provides an atmospheric setting for corporate events, receptions, dinners, workshops, recitals and filming. Smaller historic rooms within the medieval complex can also support events and breakout requirements, making Chetham’s particularly suited to organisers looking for a genuinely distinctive alternative to a conventional Manchester event venue.
