About
Freight Island
Freight Island is a large-scale events, food and entertainment destination housed within Manchester's historic Depot Mayfield, immediately behind Manchester Piccadilly Station. Its industrial setting combines indoor and outdoor spaces, bars, independent food traders, stages and extensive production facilities, creating a distinctive alternative to a traditional conference or hotel venue.
Private events can range from smaller dinners and team gatherings through to conferences, product launches, brand activations and large-scale parties. The venue's current private-hire portfolio includes The Platform, Plant Room, Sports Bar, The Outside, Terrace, Viewing Gallery and Casa Pomelo.

Facilities and Services
Freight Island provides extensive facilities for corporate and private events, including stages, large-format LED screens, AV support, lighting and technical staffing. Several spaces have their own private entrances and dedicated bars, allowing areas to operate independently while remaining connected to the wider venue. The Platform in particular is designed for technically demanding events, with staging, lighting and AV capabilities already integrated into the space.
Catering is provided through Freight Island's collection of independent food vendors, allowing events to incorporate a more informal food-market approach alongside conventional private-event catering. Multiple bars operate across the site, with dedicated private bars available within several of the hire spaces.
The combination of indoor, covered and outdoor areas gives organisers considerable flexibility, while The Outside provides a built-in stage, DJ booth and bar for large social events and brand activations.

Why Hire
Freight Island provides one of Manchester's more unconventional large-scale corporate event settings, combining the industrial architecture of Depot Mayfield with extensive food, drink, entertainment and production infrastructure. The Platform alone can accommodate 900 standing or 500 theatre-style, while The Outside increases the private-event capacity to 1,000 standing.
It's particularly strong for events where atmosphere and experience are important — product launches, company parties, networking, conferences, brand activations and summer events — while the number of individually bookable areas means the venue can also accommodate much smaller briefs without requiring a full-site takeover.
