Mechanics Conference Centre is a Grade II* listed conference venue located in the historic Mechanics Institute in the heart of Manchester city centre. Best known as the birthplace of the Trades Union Congress in 1868, the venue combines Victorian architecture with modern conference facilities, offering an inspiring setting for meetings, conferences, training, exhibitions and corporate events.
With nine versatile meeting rooms accommodating between 6 and 180 delegates, the venue provides flexible space for everything from board meetings and interviews to large conferences and networking events. Supported by an experienced events team, in-house catering and a licensed bar, Mechanics Conference Centre is one of Manchester's most established conference venues.

Large Hall
The venue's flagship conference space accommodates up to 180 theatre, 120 cabaret, 180 standing or 120 dinnerguests. Ideal for conferences, exhibitions, awards presentations and large corporate events.
John Tocher Room
A flexible meeting room accommodating up to 100 delegates in theatre, classroom, cabaret or boardroom layouts, making it ideal for medium-sized conferences and training sessions.
Peterloo Room
Named after the Peterloo Massacre, this room accommodates up to 80 theatre delegates and is suitable for workshops, seminars and breakout sessions.
Mary Quaile Room
A bright meeting room accommodating up to 50 theatre delegates or smaller boardroom and cabaret layouts.
Woods Room
Executive meeting room seating up to 20 boardroom, ideal for committee meetings and breakout sessions.
Jack Flanagan Room
An intimate boardroom for up to 12 delegates, perfect for interviews and executive meetings.
Dean Room
A further executive meeting room accommodating up to 20 boardroom delegates.
Congress Room & UIA Lounge
Often hired alongside the Large Hall, these adjoining spaces are ideal for registration, catering, exhibitions, networking, drinks receptions and breakout catering.
