Sadler’s Wells East
Sadler’s Wells East is a state-of-the-art theatre and events venue in Stratford’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Designed by award-winning architects O’Donnell + Tuomey, the contemporary building combines a highly flexible 550-seat auditorium with studios, entertaining spaces and outdoor terraces, creating a distinctive setting for conferences, awards ceremonies, dinners, product launches, fashion shows, parties, performances and filming.
The main theatre has been specifically designed for flexibility, with retractable seating allowing the auditorium to transform into a large flat-floor event space accommodating up to 770 guests standing or 500 for a seated dinner. The venue also includes the 300-capacity Martha Graham Studio & Terrace alongside professional dance studios and public spaces throughout the building.

Sadler’s Wells East Theatre
The centrepiece of the venue is a contemporary auditorium combining professional theatrical infrastructure with considerable event flexibility. In its standard configuration, the theatre provides excellent sightlines and seating for 550 guests, making it particularly suitable for conferences, awards ceremonies, presentations, graduations and performances.
The retractable seating can be removed to create a substantial flat-floor venue for dinners, receptions, launches, fashion events and parties. Professional sound, lighting, staging and backstage facilities support technically demanding events and productions.

Martha Graham Studio & Terrace
A striking contemporary studio with extensive natural daylight and its own private outdoor terrace. Measuring approximately 19.25m x 21.1m, the studio features sprung flooring, a large mirrored wall, WiFi and an integrated sound system.
The adjoining private terrace extends the event space outdoors and is particularly useful for drinks receptions, networking and summer events. The Studio & Terrace can accommodate conferences, meetings, workshops, parties, creative events and receptions.

Dance Studios
Sadler’s Wells East contains six professional studios, designed with excellent temperature control and extensive natural daylight. Most have direct access to outdoor terraces overlooking Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
The studios provide additional opportunities for workshops, rehearsals, training, creative sessions, filming and breakout activities alongside larger events within the Theatre and Martha Graham Studio.

Foyer & Public Spaces
The building features a large L-shaped public foyer wrapping around the venue and opening onto Stratford Walk and the surrounding public realm. Contemporary architecture, double-height areas, bars and café facilities provide additional hospitality and circulation space for larger events.

An external performance and activity area forms part of the venue’s connection with the surrounding East Bank development and public realm. It can support appropriate outdoor programming and creative events alongside activities within the building.
