About

The National Gallery

The National Gallery offers one of London’s most distinctive settings for corporate events, receptions, dinners, awards, conferences and private entertaining. Located directly on Trafalgar Square, events can take place amongst the Gallery’s internationally significant collection of European paintings, with spaces ranging from historic picture galleries to contemporary reception and conference facilities.

The venue’s event portfolio includes the grand Barry Rooms, Room 32 and Room 34 for dinners and receptions, the contemporary Annenberg Court, outdoor Portico Terrace, and the redeveloped Sainsbury Wing with its 750-capacity foyer, Pigott Theatre and Whitcomb meeting room. Private tours of the collection can also be incorporated into events.

The National Gallery remains open to the public during the day, so many of the principal gallery spaces are predominantly available for private events outside public opening hours. Dedicated daytime conference and meeting facilities are available within the Sainsbury Wing.

Facilities and Services

The National Gallery provides dedicated event management, security and pre- and post-event cleaning as part of its principal gallery hire. The Pigott Theatre and Whitcomb Room provide built-in AV, while the theatre also has dedicated AV technicians, hybrid capability and optional live-streaming and recording equipment.

Private and out-of-hours tours can be incorporated into corporate events, allowing guests to experience the collection alongside the main event programme. Catering and hospitality arrangements vary depending on the space and event format.

Why Hire

The National Gallery offers something that conventional London event venues simply cannot replicate: the opportunity to entertain guests amongst one of the world's great collections of European art. Rooms such as the Barry Rooms, Room 32 and Room 34 provide extraordinary settings for dinners, awards and receptions, while private tours can turn the venue itself into part of the event experience.

The redevelopment of the Sainsbury Wing has also significantly broadened the venue's corporate appeal. The 750-capacity foyer provides a contemporary blank canvas for large receptions and branded events, while the Pigott Theatre and Whitcomb Room mean the National Gallery can now accommodate conventional conferences, presentations and meetings alongside its more spectacular evening entertaining spaces.

Its Trafalgar Square location is another major advantage, particularly for events attracting guests from across London or internationally. For high-profile corporate entertaining, gala dinners, launches and awards where the venue itself needs to make an impression, it is one of London's standout options.
