Olympia Invests £1.1 Million a Year to Improve Transport Links

Olympia has announced a significant investment in transport infrastructure by partnering with Transport for London (TfL) to fund additional London Overground services to Kensington (Olympia), supporting the next phase of its £1.3 billion transformation.
Under a five-year agreement, worth up to £1.1 million per year, Olympia's owners will fund the operation of 16 additional weekday peak-time London Overground services between Clapham Junction and Shepherd's Bush. The enhanced timetable, introduced in May, increases passenger capacity by almost 20% during the morning peak and 33% in the afternoon, helping improve access for visitors, commuters and event delegates travelling to the venue.
The investment reflects Olympia's long-term vision to create one of Europe's leading destinations for exhibitions, conferences, entertainment and live events. Once fully complete, the transformed destination is expected to welcome around 10 million visitors each year, combining historic exhibition halls with a new International Convention Centre, hotels, restaurants, theatres and public spaces.
While venue investment often focuses on new event spaces and facilities, Olympia's decision to invest directly in public transport demonstrates the growing importance of accessibility within the visitor experience. For organisers, convenient transport links can play a significant role in delegate attendance, event planning and the overall success of an event.
The agreement also highlights the wider economic impact of major event destinations, with private investment extending beyond venue development to support the surrounding infrastructure needed to accommodate future growth. As London's events industry continues to evolve, projects such as Olympia are demonstrating that successful venues increasingly depend on the strength of the wider destination as much as the buildings themselves.
