Higher Eggbeer
Higher Eggbeer is a relaxed and characterful exclusive-use venue at Cheriton Bishop near Exeter, surrounded by Devon countryside with far-reaching views towards Dartmoor. The estate combines rustic event barns, extensive grounds and residential accommodation, creating a distinctive setting for weddings, private celebrations, parties and multi-day events.
At the heart of the venue is the Party Barn, seating up to 140 guests and accommodating up to 200 for evening celebrations, alongside the atmospheric Chapel Barn and Eggbeer Arms games room and bar. Hire provides exclusive use of the venue, farmhouse and grounds, with complete freedom to appoint external caterers. Onsite accommodation can sleep up to 46 guests across several different options, with additional camping available.
Event Spaces
The Party Barn
The principal event space at Higher Eggbeer, the rustic Party Barn retains its original character with thick cob walls, exposed structure, fairy lights and candlelight. It accommodates up to 140 guests seated and transforms into a party space for up to 200 guests in the evening.
The barn includes a stage suitable for a band or DJ, atmospheric lighting, PA system and adjoining bar and lounge. Live bands can perform until 11pm, with a DJ or playlist continuing in the Party Barn until 1am.
The Chapel Barn
A smaller and particularly atmospheric barn featuring stained-glass windows, exposed beams, candlelight and natural daylight. The Chapel Barn is licensed for ceremonies but can also be repurposed as a reception area, cinema room or additional event space.
The Eggbeer Arms
Higher Eggbeer's pub-style Games Room provides an informal additional event and entertainment space with its own bar, pool table, darts, table tennis and table football. It can be used throughout the hire and provides an after-party space once the main Party Barn closes at 1am.
Grounds & Gardens
The extensive lawns and gardens provide considerable scope for outdoor events, ceremonies, drinks receptions, games and entertainment. A large camping field can also accommodate tents, campers and caravans.
Pool & Leisure Areas
Residential hires also have access to an outdoor heated swimming pool during the warmer months, sauna and AstroTurf tennis court, making Higher Eggbeer particularly suited to multi-day private events and retreats.

Higher Eggbeer offers exclusive multi-day hire with tables and benches, a staffed bar, PA system with speakers and microphones, large catering area and extensive parking. Importantly, the venue gives clients complete freedom to choose and hire their own caterers, with catering staff responsible for food service and clearing.
