October Gallery
October Gallery is an independent contemporary art gallery and event venue on Old Gloucester Street in Bloomsbury. Founded in 1979, the gallery is known for exhibiting contemporary artists from around the world and occupies a distinctive Grade II listed 19th-century building in central London.
For private events, October Gallery offers three principal hire options: the Gallery & Courtyard, Theatre and Club Room. The spaces retain much of the building's original character while providing facilities for receptions, dinners, meetings, presentations, performances, screenings, workshops and book launches.
The largest configuration is the ground-floor Gallery & Courtyard, accommodating up to 150 guests standing. One of the venue's strongest features is its secluded open-air courtyard garden, which gives events genuine outdoor space in the middle of Bloomsbury.

October Gallery provides WiFi throughout the building alongside a range of hireable AV and event equipment. Depending on the space, this includes projectors, PA systems, microphones, a 65-inch screen, flipcharts, theatre lighting and technical support. The Theatre also has a Bechstein grand piano available for hire.
The Gallery & Courtyard has access to a professional kitchen. Professional external caterers are permitted, with October Gallery maintaining a recommended caterer list. Food and alcohol service requires use of professional caterers and hire of the Gallery Kitchen. The venue can also provide catering for some events directly.

Why Hire
October Gallery offers considerably more character than a conventional central London meeting or function venue. Events take place within a working contemporary art gallery, with the exhibitions providing a changing backdrop rather than a standard neutral event environment.
The courtyard is a particularly useful feature. Both ground-floor Gallery rooms connect directly to the garden, allowing organisers to combine indoor and outdoor areas for summer receptions, drinks events and dinners.
The Theatre and Club Room broaden the venue's appeal beyond evening receptions.
