The Derby Conference Centre Retains Silver Greengage ECOsmart Accreditation

The Derby Conference Centre has retained its Silver Greengage ECOsmart accreditation, recognising the venue's continued commitment to sustainability and responsible event management.
The independent accreditation, which is valid until July 2027, recognises venues that demonstrate strong environmental practices across key areas including energy and water management, waste reduction, food and beverage, facilities management and corporate social responsibility.
The venue achieved an overall sustainability score of 68%, representing a 14-percentage-point improvement since its previous assessment. The latest audit highlighted significant progress across building infrastructure, energy and water management, corporate social responsibility and facilities management, reflecting The Derby Conference Centre's ongoing investment in creating a more sustainable environment for meetings, conferences and corporate events.
Among the initiatives recognised were the use of local food suppliers, LED lighting throughout the venue, between 11 and 20 electric vehicle charging points, Zero Waste to Landfill certification, green meeting packages and carbon-free team building activities. The venue has also strengthened its food waste reduction policy and continues to educate employees on sustainability and climate awareness.
As part of its ECOsmart accreditation, The Derby Conference Centre also provides access to the Greengage Impact Portal, enabling organisers to view estimated carbon emissions for their events and access sustainability data to support their own environmental reporting and ESG objectives.
What This Means for Event Organisers
Sustainability is becoming an increasingly important consideration when selecting an event venue. The Derby Conference Centre's retained Silver ECOsmart accreditation provides organisers with independent reassurance of the venue's environmental credentials, while practical initiatives such as EV charging, green meeting packages and event carbon reporting make it easier for businesses to plan more sustainable meetings, conferences and corporate events without compromising on quality.
